Perseverance
Placements!!!!!!!!!
You don't realize the fear behind this word until you come to very end of your Engineering, The fourth year. Same was with me, I always thought we are good enough, technically sound as well as with good communication skills ,getting place wouldn't be that tough. When some of seniors would just cry for not getting placed after 3-4 months of continuous interviews, We would think why don't they prepare well accordingly what's the use of crying now, and are these interviews that though. It was my mistake I took those things that lightly, I never tried to understand the reason behind their continuous rejection. I used to talk with seniors, but Now I understand I only interacted with the one who got placed early. Their opinions were totally different. They always told do x and y that's enough for getting placed, we did the same and see we are placed in so renowed organization. That seemed so easy and we followed the same unless passed a year and came in fourth year. It was now our turn to show our skills and get placed. The first company came and Wooh! we were all set to appear for the test, just before the company displayed a Shortlist of students who would appear for the test, and they had put a eligibility criteria of 9.0 pointer, me having a pointer of 8.5 got rejected there itslef .Nobody told us this shortlisting stuff all were like 8.0 pointer is more than enough to appear for the companies. With the first company doing this we were really sad ..but all said other comapies dont do this shit they allow everyone.. and only their test score decides who would go further. We became normal and continued our preparation. Real delima occurred when it was the 10th company and I couldnt appear any one of them just because they shortlisted the students above a pointer of 9.It seemed like what...this was not supposed to happen.. how are the companies doing this ..this never happened..the ones i talked to were eligible for all the companies. .or maybe I never talked to the one who was not eligible, I would have got this point of view by him.
Many companies went the same way, now we were just waiting for the company who would let us sit for their first test. And then when our actual placements were about to start the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic hit the world. Everybody went home and everything seemed ending. College activities switched to online platforms.. but for us there was only one question...What about placements??
Soon, college authorities announced the placement would take place virtually and all the activities would be conducted from home itself. We were little bit relaxed ok..atleast its happening. But TPO wont let us be soo happy..soon they gave another big announcement...Due to the pandemic many companies are not recruting and some are unsure so grab any company that comes with a higher or lower pakage and just get placed. This was too serious for us, because the companies we had prepared for were not coming and now we needed to sit for just the company that comes.. All the IT services compnaies were boon as they used to take in bulk but still their exams were very different and we were not prepared for them. Preparation started in a complete different manner. Company started coming we were appearing for them ..but still not getting selected for the intervies. The companies are coming we are preparing..waiting for that one who would take us or the one to which we can prove our skills...
One thing I learned through this is that take advice from the people who have succeded in life, learn from their hardwork...but dont forget to talk to the ones who have failed.. because they would give us the lessons for a harder path because may be the one who succedded went to be lucky with their talent but the ones who are struggling to successed are the ones who are working hard to beat others and prove themselves with no luck behind them..
This placement scenario would not have been that though for us if we would have talked with our seniors who were facing failures with the companies recruitment process..maybe they would have given us the strength to cope with this much easier.
This is not just about the placements but in every aspect of our life ..Always remember to talk with the struggling people rather than the winners, they would give us the actual life lessons for the roughest path to success.......
